What Happens at 5pm: From Cafe to Indian Restaurant

When the cafe closes at 2:30pm, the room changes, the tandoor is lit and a different kind of day begins.

From Cafe to Indian Restaurant

By day, Red Bridge is a cafe, open from 7am with coffee, free-range eggs and house-baked pastries. Then 2:30pm comes, the cafe closes, and we start getting ready for dinner.

The room changes with the evening. Pendant lights glow over the Dining Hall, tables are set, and the Indian restaurant opens its doors at 5pm, Wednesday to Sunday.

For date night, a table for two works just as well as a table of friends, with the pendant lights low and plenty of time to talk.

The Tandoor Is Lit

Dinner starts at the tandoor. A chef lowers a skewer of marinated chicken into the hot clay oven, and from that moment the kitchen is in full swing.

It is a hands-on way to cook, with no shortcuts between the marinade and the plate, only people, skewers and heat.

Chicken tikka, seekh kebab and tandoori chicken all take their turn, and they come to the table on a black platter of tandoori mixed grill, ready to be shared.

Curries, Biryani and Naan

Next to the tandoor, the slow-cooked curries do their work. Butter chicken, saag paneer and dal makhani are on the menu, along with biryani, and freshly baked naan to scoop it all up.

Slow-cooked means time. The curries are cooked slowly, without hurry, so the flavours have a chance to come together before the bowl reaches you. Naan comes freshly baked, and is meant for tearing and passing around.

Picture a white table with biryani, butter chicken, naan, raita and a couple of glasses of wine, and you have a good idea of a Friday night with us.

Worth the Drive

A Friday night out, a date night, a catch-up with friends: dinner here suits all of them. Whether you are driving in from across Western Sydney or the Hawkesbury, we think it is worth the drive.

Come with friends, order a few dishes for the middle of the table, and share. A bowl of biryani with a ring of curries around it is a very good start.

Browse the dinner menu to see what is cooking, then book a table so we can have a place ready for you. Last dine-in order is 9:15pm, so there is no need to rush.
